Here we are… in the final days of summer hosting.  The Ukrainian kids will depart in only 2 days and the Latvian, in 5.  These final days can be treasured, difficult, and heartbreaking.  Everyone’s emotions can be spanning the spectrum knowing what will happen in just a few days.  “D-day” will surely be a sad day for all.  However, many families will have a special hope of being reunited with their hosted orphan… because they know they have found someone special.  They can’t imagine this child not being in their family and are ready to begin the adoption process.

For those families who know this cannot only be temporary and are ready to open the door to forever, I am overjoyed!  The heart of hosting is to love and care for an orphan in a special way, and I believe there’s no better way to do that than adoption.  My prayer for you all is Ephesians 3:14-21 .  May you know God’s love in a new way, be strengthened by His love, trust that He can do more than you can ever imagine, and give Him all the glory for all that he does!

And still, there is another group of children on my heart – those who have not yet found forever families.  At  this time, there are 51 children in The States for summer hosting who have not been matched up with forever families.  They are all so deserving, sweet, and loved.  These children need people who will pray for them, who will advocate for them, who will give them a voice.  Can you?

If you visit the attached link, you will be able to sign-up to see the listing of remaining host children – photolisting.  See their faces, read their stories, say a prayer and know that it’s making a difference.  If any of them tug at your heart – I’m sure several of them will! – there is contact information on how to find out more about the child & what you can do to help, host in the future, or adopt.

For those of you who are on the fence, consider this video.  It brought tears to my eyes…

“Are [you] really hearing God’s voice or is that the American dream yelling in your ear? …you might be closer to hearing God’s dream for you than ever before.”

This weekend, I am feeling for all the families who are preparing to say “so long” to their precious host children, rejoicing with all those who are taking the next steps to pursue adoption, and praying for those children who are still waiting to be found by their forever family & for those families who are on the fence, letting go of their American dream,  just on the verge of saying “Here I am Lord, use me!”

Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”
Luke 9:48

(*Disclaimer – New Horizons for Children is NOT an adoption agency and can make no promises about any particular child regarding availability. However, we want to advocate for them and for that reason, we pull together a listing such as this towards the mid-point of our host program. Parents who want to invite a child into their forever family pursue adoptions with outside adoption agencies.)
