For those of you who have not yet heard, 4 days ago, on Wednesday, was our court date for Sasha’s adoption.  At that hearing, with my parents, assistant director from his orphanage, jurors, and a judge, Sasha decided that he does not want to be adopted and come to America.  Thus, our adoption journey has come to an unexpected end.

He was already a part of our home & family

Dear Sasha,

You are loved. So much. Regardless of your decision to stay in Ukraine, you still have my love.  I still want God’s blessing, protection, grace, favor, peace, wisdom, and love to cover you no matter where you go.  He is there with you and heard you when you call to him.

I am so blessed to have had you in my life. You are an amazing guy. You will always have a place in my heart and in my family.  I always loved to hear when you called me your sister and I still think of you as my brother.   If there ever comes a time that you need to reach out to us, we will be here for you.

I can still hear you saying it to me over the phone now, like you did every week – “Ya za tebya ochen silno skuchayu i ochen silno lyublyu.” I miss you and love you very much.

“My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
   Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!”
